49 students of our Educational Center made their First Communion at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in Samborondón, last Saturday, February 19, 2022. After a long period of formation in our Educational Center as part of the integral education we offer, our students received for the first time the body of Jesus Christ through the Sacrament of the Eucharist.
Accompanied by their representatives, family and friends, most of the children showed great nervousness for what they were about to experience, but by the end of the ceremony, that feeling had transformed into great joy for having received Jesus. Chaplain Diego Bustamante, who presided over the celebration, mentioned to them the importance of remembering and maintaining a profound encounter with the Savior and that this stage marked a new beginning in their journey of faith.
Among the offerings, bread and hosts were offered as the bread of God that nourishes the faith of the people, so that people know how to share what they have with the most needy and that no one lacks food; wines and grapes, representing the blood of Jesus and symbol of joy; candlesas Christ said“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” . Its flame represents Christ, the light of the world, as well as the love that the faithful profess; flowersrepresenting the virtues, beauty and loveliness of the souls of the children in this event; familyas an offering so that the same will be true for the souls of the children.
This is one of the pastoral actions carried out by the Institution to prepare the heart and form the students to receive the Sacraments proposed by the Church.
